Neither of us is looking at the camera, but my niece likes this picture of herself with her new trilobite best because it's the one where she's laughing. Maybe the trilobite is looking at the camera. It's got complex eyes. And it's very snuggly.

I'm really happy that she liked it! She was a little nonplussed at first, but she remembered the trilobites from Ponyo and my parents reminded her that they are related to horseshoe crabs which she has enjoyed petting in tidepools at the Aquarium and she has now gone to bed with it, with the informational tag carefully cut off and saved for her parents to read tomorrow. We showed her pictures of the fossils.
