Neither of us is looking at the camera, but my niece likes this picture of herself with her new trilobite best because it's the one where she's laughing. Maybe the trilobite is looking at the camera. It's got complex eyes. And it's very snuggly.

I'm really happy that she liked it! She was a little nonplussed at first, but she remembered the trilobites from Ponyo and my parents reminded her that they are related to horseshoe crabs which she has enjoyed petting in tidepools at the Aquarium and she has now gone to bed with it, with the informational tag carefully cut off and saved for her parents to read tomorrow. We showed her pictures of the fossils.

I love the idea of the trilobite encountered in the wildwood of the great Devonian reefs!

I do not recognize that character, but they have a great expression, and I think it is an appropriate way to feel about trilobites.

That character is Bow from Netflix's animated remake (re-visioning) of She-Ra, princess of power, a show that I endorse wholeheartedly** and which you and your niece might very much enjoy watching together, either while sitting on the same couch, or long distance, but chatting about it.
