Come on, everybody, one more time again

Due to glancing childhood exposure to 1960's TV Batman and of course her name, I always took it for granted that Eartha Kitt was a were-cat, but this 1952 photo by Carl Van Vechten makes a really good case for mermaid:

Other things I learned about today from Tumblr include the Sword of Stalingrad (pictured with its silversmith Leslie Durbin, then of the RAF) and Jason deCaires Taylor's The Lost Correspondent (2006). I was also very struck by this shipwreck turning into an island. It appears to be the SS City of Adelaide.

If anyone could pull off being both a were-cat and a mermaid, it'd be Eartha Kitt.

Both. Def both. Eartha Kitt can be whatever she needs to be at the time.

I don't know, I think I still see a were-cat, just one with an understandable thing for mermaids and one currently in her sights. (Like the Cat in Red Dwarf, but she's into fish-tails not heads. :-D)

I mean, both options are good, though. Were-cat AU and Mermaid AU, all good. <3

Eartha Kitt was an amazing woman, and I loved her singing.

That totally makes sense.

An icon. She's the only person I can think of who, if somebody told me "no, legitimately, she had superpowers, and could fly and bend steel and see through walls," I'd say "oh wow, cool, I didn't know that anybody could do that but it makes sense."
