לאָמיר ניקאָלײַקעלען צעברעכן די װענט

I didn't fall asleep until after dawn. Then I had a lot of nightmares. Then I didn't wake up until the early afternoon. I just feel mentally wiped. I am trying to figure out what I can possibly do with the rest of the day that won't feel like even more wasted time.

My internal soundtrack since last night appears to be composed entirely of "Hey, Hey, Daloy Politsey." Yesterday's busker was the trigger; when I thanked them for the "Arbetslozer Marsh," they explained that they would also have been singing "Daloy Politsey" except they didn't know enough of the Yiddish and they didn't think they could do it in English without being hauled off by the authorities. I said that was the best reason to learn the Yiddish, so the authorities would think it was just a rousing folk song. What with ICE—and the police—and the president—I'm thinking ABV should be singing it. It's anarchist, sure, but it's not irrelevant. Especially that line about breaking down the tsar's walls.

This week was definitely not as relaxed as I had probably unrealistic fantasies of it being.

They had us sing "Hey, Hey, Daloy Politsey" as a warm-up at the Daniel Kahn concert and it was a glorious experience, I hope we do get to sing it again in ABV!

(I am sorry about the nightmares.)
