I was away from my computer for most of the day, so it wasn't until I got home from my afternoon of singing Yiddish that I saw there had been another synagogue shooting. I hate that another. Schools, mosques, synagogues, historically black churches, another and another, who's next? I would like the news to be full of other things, and not just because no one's reporting this kind. I don't know how to keep people safe.

I was talking to my father about it and he mentioned a vehicle-ramming attack in the last couple of days I hadn't even heard about. I hate it. I don't want it to be happening elsewhere; I want it not to be happening. [edit] I am frustrated by my inability to make reality comprehensively different.

Yeah, it sucks. I read about it shortly before going off to a new music concert where, in a terrible coincidence, the majority of the pieces dealt with gun violence and fear. The music was very good, but the experience was even more uncomfortable than it was meant to be.

I worry that anti-Semitic murders will just become a thing that everyone accepts happens in this country, and the only people who will try to prevent it will be the people who are already targets, and historically that stops nothing.
