When we're ashore the priest will wed us as soon as we do reach the strand
The #nonbinaryrake sequel to Jeannelle M. Ferreira's The Covert Captain (2018) is still in progress, but that seemed insufficient reason for me not to start making fanart for it. I am not wholly satisfied with all squares in this aesthetic post—it was harder than I thought to find photos of small children in Regency settings—but at least this time I didn't have to do all the HTML myself.

Happy Labor Day.

The silver-chased coconut kiddush cup depicting Scenes Various and Inappropriate is my favorite artifact of the month. But all of it is ridiculously lovely and wow, I write super queer books.

I seriously think one of St. Clair's brothers should send it to them. (I don't know if they could have picked it up locally, because it has a catalogue number on the website but no provenance, but it's not like Kolkata in 1825 didn't have Jews.)

You do! It's excellent! I couldn't even find room for the m/m couple!

Thank you! The last photo is a cropped image of Kate Lindsey as Nicklausse in the Royal Opera House's 2016 Les contes d'Hoffmann. The last photo came from Pinterest via image search, which means I had no idea, since without a Pinterest account I can't actually look at any of the pinned images without being told to sign up; after a small amount of reverse-searching, it appears to originate in this photoset by Richard Jenkins. The model's name is not given.

Ugh, Pinterest, though. I've had that same problem, and there's No Way I am signing up for a Pinterest account.

No apologies necessary! Pinterest is just annoying that way.
The other photos are a coconut-shell kiddush cup in the collections of the Jewish Museum London, the main entrance of East Riddlesden Hall, Amanda Root as Anne Elliot in Persuasion (1995), Anna Madeley and Maxine Peake as Mariana Belcombe and Anne Lister in The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister (2010), some of the Morland kids from Northanger Abbey (I believe the 1986 TV version, but I couldn't get an attribution on the screencap), the East Indiaman Friendship of Salem, and a brilliant action photo of an early nineteenth-century British Sea Service pistol being fired by this guy. Most of these images were chosen for their visuals rather than their allusions, but I don't feel it hurts to have a shout-out to Yorkshire's most famous nineteenth-century lesbian, for example. [edit] I intended to use a photo from Black Sails for the B-plot couple, but they got crowded out by other plot elements. Maybe once the book comes out I'll make photosets for all three couples. As

It certainly has not encouraged me to apply.

I had not, in fact, quite realized until I saw the Friendship of Salem in your aesthetic that it's an unusual/classic pairing, the A-plot couple; one person who's never gone two miles from home and one person who's chased everything everywhere. You are a splendid friend to have.

And I Did Not Know about Miss Anne Lister. That is cool, and also not surprising--the world was way more full of LGTBQ folks all through history than the dominant narrative ever wanted to acknowledge.

Enjoy!

She's getting a second biographical series upcoming, Gentleman Jack! If the producers have any sense, they'll use the song by O'Hooley and Tidow.
At the moment she has a rather lovely plaque.
