Future heartbreak, future headaches, wide-eyed nights late lying awake with future cold shakes

Rabbit, rabbit! It's August and I have a book coming out in less than a week! Have some self-promotion.

Do you want to come to the launch party? It's at the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences Council in Providence on August 11th.

Do you want to hear me read on radio? I'll be on WBAI's Hour of the Wolf on August 23rd.

Do you want to hear me read in person? I'll be at Pandemonium Books & Games in Cambridge on August 30th.

Further events to be added as they are confirmed.

(It was August yesterday too, but I spent the day working and my evening nowhere near a computer. As a way to inaugurate a hoped-for better month, I strongly recommend splitting a bucket of fried chicken at the Frogmore in Jamaica Plain, walking to the MFA to catch a half-hour of propaganda postcards, and then returning home to watch a pretty damn pre-Code movie. I hope to write about the latter. It was called Loose Ankles (1930) and it looked like it was subverting tropes we hadn't realized were even codified then. I love this era of movies.)

That bucket of fried chicken sounds excellent! While I can't lay my hands on any tonight, I'll do my best to imitate the spirit if not the letter with leftover pulled pork from my hostessing earlier in the week--along with the DVD of Eternal, which arrived today.

And when are you coming to western Mass?

Yay book and book events!

Loose Ankles is such a pre-Code film title.

Does "loose ankles" imply anything like "round heels"?

Alas, it looks like we'll now be in Toronto when you are in NY. If desired, our house is still available for staying over purposes, if other plans don't work out.
