I watched the blue wave cover it over and do what the ocean does best
Me, watching a movie on my computer: Oh, hey, I should make sure I still remember how to tie that four-in-hand knot
choco_frosh showed me.
Me, wearing the tie that came with the knot lesson: Oh, hey, I should take reference photos for this secret project I haven't mentioned previously.
The shirt I put on this morning: YOU DO NOT MATCH YOUR OWN PATTERNS EVER AGAIN.

I feel I may have accidentally cosplayed something.

ETA: I long for the days of single-stacked bookshelves ... (Lessee, I recognize Yeats and Omeros -- what else?)

Thank you! That's a thing?
(Lessee, I recognize Yeats and Omeros -- what else?)
The bookshelf over my right shoulder is poetry and plays, shading into biography at the bottom; the bookshelf over my left shoulder is biography shading into film criticism shading into general nonfiction. The pile off to my left, audience right is mostly classics, graphic novels, and my own contributor's copies, and needs to be properly shelved. There is a rather dramatic outcropping of Tanith Lee up top.

(BOOKSHELVES.)
My father made them for us! We actually don't have room for the full set in this apartment; some of them are in storage. Someday.

BERTIE, DO YOU KNOW HOW THE MALE NEWT PROPOSES?
No, wait, actually, you're going to go to Petra and find a lost library and you need one of those pith hats!
As it happens, I know at least two people I could borrow a boater from. The pith helmet might require a little research. (And look a bit colonial when I got it. Are straw fedoras a thing?)

I am looking forward.

I wondered about that! Would it be gauche to take it to Petra?

(Icon chosen because I think it's the only one I have where anyone is wearing a hat, which seems like a glaring omission).

Yeah, I am afraid that anything that does not chase the adverb "eye-wateringly" with the adjective "cheap" is not an achievable life goal at present. But still something to think about.
I had a sun hat for years that I was very fond of. I wore it almost constantly in the summers. Probably for that reason, last summer it wore out.

I've only got one, now that I think about it.

I have always sympathized with that entire conversation.

(Also, fwiw, roommate's philosophy, as laid out in a note on the fridge, is "FASHION TIP: WEAR AS MANY DIFFERENT PATTERNS AS POSSIBLE")

So noted! (Does it work for them?)

I'll need more ties!
Since everybody else has commented about punting, you look like the most dapper ferryperson ever!
Aw. Thank you!
