I blame P work ethic, BOOTSTRAPS! stupid American self-propagandizing, and especially late stage capitalism. Like, God forbid if every single little scrap of one's activities and thoughts aren't monetizable (sp). Or if theoretically you could be working on something for $$$ but need to do something, anything, else instead.
