Otherwise known as, yet another hint that you may have read too much Ursula K. Le Guin—am I the only person on this planet who thinks that Geir Haarde sounds like a Gethenian name?

Well, I concede that it looks like a Gethenian name, but when I try (from a position of absolute ignorance) to pronounce it, it sounds like Kier Hardie.

The first name, btw, is pronounced with a long A vowel -- the same one that starts Reykjavík.

I'm not sure what Icelanders do with Danish-derived names. Possibly pronounce it like Danish?
