I think of your movie experience as, hmm, expert, so I was gobsmacked to see that you hadn't noticed Strathairn before GNandGL. Probably it's age-related. Some people my age would have said "The Return of the Seacaucus Seven" or many other John Sayles movies. Or "League of Their Own," 15 years later. I have lots of opinions, having seen him in many films, TV shows, and a filmed play over the nearly forty years, but I am running up against the wall of my tendency to babble, so I'll leave it at a story from the 1993, when a few of the US women in "The House of the Spirits" were interviewed in EW. One of the prompts was to ask the women to pick a sexy actor, and after some discussion, they came up with DS. And then were ashamed of themselves for objectifying people, and changed the subject.
