I wasn't impressed with Gallipoli. They spent a lot of time showing these five young men, but we never really got into the heads of any of them. They were just a bunch of guys, and often not very likable guys at that. They joined the army, went to war, and most of them got killed. We never saw the effects of war on the survivors, or really for that matter on any of them; the movie spent so little time sat the front that I never had a sense that the war was real (in sharp contrast to All's Quiet on the Western Front, where the horror of trench warfare is captured so vivdly it will give you nightmares).

It wasn't a meteor movie, but it wasn't a compelling movie either. It had no real story that I could see, but was instead more like a really long preview.
