Watching a stormcloud form over the hills

Not only have the heavens just burst open with tropically torrential rain and gusts of wind snapping branches off sideways in the back yard, it appears to be hailing. Earlier this afternoon it was a hundred degrees in the overcast.

I know climate change isn't sentient, but I still feel like we're being trolled. [edit] And now the sun's back out and the pavements are steaming. Yep.

I actually saw the hail! (Usually I manage to miss it and have to take other people's word for it.)

Of course, I strategically opened windows for air when the rain was torrential but falling straight down -- and then suddenly it wasn't, and now things are a little soggier than I'd planned... Ah well, that's what towels are for.

Just after the rain stopped, I walked around my neighborhood to survey the damage. I found downed branches and power lines and an electrocuted squirrel.

Around here, hail is a fature of summer storms - not every time, by any means, but not a big surprise either. Do I infer that this isn't the case where you are?

Sometimes during thunderstorms, but not often enough that either of us was expecting it.

LOL, you probably don't want to think too much about sentient weather while watching S&S. Not as bad as a clock stopping, but still enough to bring in a scowling Steel...
