Don't worry who these jokes will all be lost on
And this one I got from
clarionj. Yes, it's a bit of a silly quiz (or meme) week. Most of my brain is occupied with academic insanity these days, so there's not much to report otherwise. Besides, I thought her results were brilliant. Now to determine whether I have enough close friends for this meme to work . . .
10 Things About Friends Meme
1. I didn't fall in love with your masks.
2. The smell of your hair kept me awake all night.
3. I wish I didn't see you in ways that no one else does.
4. I used to know what all your tattoos stood for.
5. Do you never sleep or do you assume I don't?
6. In a reflection in a rear view mirror at night, I saw how you would look when old, and you were incredibly beautiful.
7. I still don't think I've heard all your natural accents.
8. I believe you saw Anubis in my basement, but for the life of me I can't imagine what he was doing there.
9. I wonder occasionally if you'd still recognize me, or if the lyrics to "Circle Game" were only ever significant to me.
10. You will always remind me of clementines and fallen angels.
For those of you who prefer actual content, there's always Mike Allen's Mythic. This is the mostly-prose offshoot of Mythic Delirium, whose first issue comes out sometime next month (and contains my story "Exorcisms," which I still dedicate unofficially to
strange_selkie). For the complete table of contents and excerpts from most of the pieces, look no further. That's John William Waterhouse's The Magic Circle on the cover. Who could resist?
Or, if that's not the content you're looking for, Simon Logan (
fetishpunk) has updated his website. There's new design. There's new fiction. There's trash fires and remixed casettes and viruses and music. Give a look. It's contagious, but in a good way.
I'm off to read the Confessions. Oh, Saint Augustine. I understand that journaling has helped many people over the years, but why did you have to publish yours? I beat you senseless with Woody Allen.

I am in fact consistently asleep between about four and ten a.m., though, and I tend to expect other people to be, too. So it's not so much that I think other people never sleep so much as it not occurring to me that they might do it at night.
And I don't mean to keep you up or anything, y'know.

At least I'm quite positive I have one of them, another one I've a good guess, and a third I've got a potshot at.
Did you go through this and make the list chronologically?

No; it was more or less at random and includes people whom you may not know, either because they're childhood friends with whom I no longer have much contact or because they're people I've met at Yale. It's not a very profound statistical sample of my friends. I just pulled ten names out of my ear and ran with them.
Who are the positive, the guess, and the potshot?

On the other hand, wouldn´t it be hilarious if he actually DID have an lj?
I can just imagine:

The students in this town are really getting out of hand: a whole gang of them burst into my lecture this morning, sat down for about fifteen minutes, and then left again, telling all of MY students that they should come join them at some greasy Caupona. sigh. Sometimes I think I should just quit this job... On the bright side, Katharos Faustus is going to be in town this weekend. Hopefully he can answer some of my questions about how Mani´s cosmology seems to be at varience wíth the scientific findings of the Akademikoi...
