And as for the weapons that hung by their side, we flung them as far as we could in the tide
The leopard slugs are out tonight in Somerville. It seems to me that they are slightly out of season, but I was so happy to see them glimmering in the streetlight as I walked around the block for a break between bouts of catch-up work, I don't want to take it as a sign of global warming or further derangement of the biosphere. The half-moon above the trees was the warm color of old ivory. Notes toward a con report from Readercon tomorrow. Tonight, sleep.

They're beautiful! They get their name from their coloring: a kind of springy glittering tawny brown or gold with black markings, and they're about palm-length, so they can really show it off. They are the only terrestrial slug I find as lovely as the nudibranchs, although I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the banana slugs that I met in northern California when I was twelve. I really enjoy living in an area where on cool damp nights they just glide out to be seen.

Now I'm very happy.
I'll look forward to your report. By all accounts it was a superlative Readercon.

At least in Somerville we do! I don't believe they are at all native, but since they haven't destroyed their habitat, I am delighted to see them.

I'll try to get something down before the end of the day. I am desperately behind on work due to internet troubles last week. It was a wonderful Readercon.
