This review of Postcards from the Province of Hyphens blows me away. I may not even hide under the furniture. Thank you.

I want to make "genre cross-dressing" a formal literary term.

It damned well ought to be already.

What's more, Gore Vidal should have coined the damned thing, instead of leaving it for me.

Now my brain is happily coming up with hard-sf robot bodice rippers and fantasy cunningly disguised as film noir. ...Actually, I probably have to write one of those. And there's always that gay romance urban fantasy Theater Plot we were doing.

Is genre cross-dressing where Victorian steam-punk came from?

I'm not sure how seriously I can take robot bodice rippers. Not that I take bodice rippers seriously.

On the other hand, I did write a Comic Party fanfic which was slash for paper and ink. (It's about writing non-professional manga and there's this girl in the anime, see, and she works at a printing shop. She keeps going on about how Paper-san and Ink-san really like the comic book that the protagonist is writing... Um, I blame [livejournal.com profile] syonakelete; she's the one who said there should be Paper/Ink slash.)

Indeed.

Very nice review! Genre cross-dressing. I like that.
