Sisters, now lead us to the cistern, for we must wash away these marks

I am returned from this morning's medical procedure. It went very boringly, which is what I wanted, and the results were reassuring, which I wasn't expecting. Barring belated bad news, this is the best-case scenario, which surprises me after the events of this last week and change. I am not complaining. I am actually very happy.

My copy of Julian Barnes' The Noise of Time (2016) arrived in the mail nearly two weeks earlier than estimated, so I plan to read a little of it and then I plan to nap, because I have not really slept in three nights. Later this evening I hope to write about a movie for Patreon. I just ate two chocolates. They were my first real food in forty-eight hours. I regret nothing.

Which suddenly strikes me as the antithesis of the Royal Navy's Thursday toast: 'A Bloody War, or a Sickly Season'.
