Making bloody trails of memory and warning

Public service announcement: my beloved one-lunged laptop, Bertie Owen, is experiencing severe difficulties of as yet unknown etiology. It took him twelve minutes to boot up this morning. I am in the process of backing everything up. I am not asking for people to troubleshoot the problem for me on DW/LJ, I am just warning that my internet presence may be greatly reduced over the next few days. This timing is horrific. I can afford neither a new computer nor any length of being out of work. I will try to keep people updated as I can.

LJ-notifications also appear to be reaching me about one time in five at the moment, but I don't believe these problems are connected.

ACK. That's awful. I hope you're able to recover all of your data, and are able to work something out on the working-computer front. *hugs* How stressful!

My sympathies on the computer being on the fritz. My laptop also went down this week (hard drive failure), and I hope yours has a much less dire (and expensive) problem than mine does. I will keep my fingers crossed for Bertie.
