They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway

Assorted casualties of my thought processes this afternoon. First, a meme from [livejournal.com profile] pnh, although I suspect I will have to get [livejournal.com profile] fleurdelis28 to explain it to me:

YOU ARE RULE 15!

You're a very helpful rule! You allow the attorney to amend their complaint once as a matter of course at any time before the answer is filed, and also allow amendments in other cases. If a claim relates back to the original transaction or occurrence outlined in the complaint, you can amend the complaint, even though the statute of limitations has run. Like a good friend, you're always there to help out in a bind.

Take that, statute of limitations. You can delay, but you can't hide.

A week ago Sunday, I attended a party at Lily's On The Pond for one of my beloved teachers from Brandeis; see details here. The marvelous Viking Zen, who is one of the people who changed my life in those years—and is now the mother of a criminally adorable child, I kid you not; to make eye contact is to melt—took photographs, and I offer one of them below.

(Cut for the usual photographic reasons. Yes, we're work-safe.)

That's me; that's Peter. My necklace is [livejournal.com profile] elisem's Remember What You Say in Dreams, Part 4. His concertina is a hundred and ten years old. We look pretty much like ourselves.

And I got a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] greyselke, who so far as I know is still in Egypt. The stamp has a little hunting tomb figure on it. Cool.

Off to dinner. I am introducing my class to Korean storytelling traditions tonight: we're watching Chunhyang. I'm only sorry nobody seems to have taped Peter Sellars' ART production of The Children of Herakles that I saw in 2003. They had an epic singer from Kazakhstan, one of the first female performers in that tradition. She was worth the whole show.

I thing [livejournal.com profile] greyselke gets back in the next day or two.

And in that picture you really look like you're eyeing Peter up -- for lunch . . .

It is rather an odd look . . . I shudder . . .

Dear, I'm quite aware of this. But as one who has attempted to take pictures of you many times, can I not make comments?

Oh I think I can. Besides, if there were a contest to see who'd be on your dinner plate, I'm sure it'd be quite fierce competition . . . ;)
