A heart like an anchor that sank her down to me

1. Readercon tomorrow! I will have copies of Ghost Signs on me. I am coming into this convention very tired, but it will be good to see people.

2. It delights me that Rejected Princesses has gotten around to Sonya Golden Hand. The second photograph in the post looks like the one that inspired the only poem by Marge Piercy I really like: "The thief."

3. The trash-picked painting, photographed by [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel:

I like all the sea-stuff; it's really that one color I'm side-eyeing. (It's even more off-kilter in person.) Come to my reading on Friday and you may hear some of the story that made me take it home.

That color is certainly a mistake! Maybe the painter was intending... something more lavender? Or brighter pink? I don't know.

Good lord. Prosthetic pink! Or maybe a cross-section of hotdog with a swirl of mustard. I like the sea-stuff. I like the impasto. But the circle must go.

It's a vile colour, reminds me of cheap "fruit" yoghurt.

Good luck at Readercon!

Oddly it also made me think of food, but I went more in the "cross-section of a banana split" direction. The sea parts are lovely though.

I can see it as the Old Man and the Sea with frosted donuts stuck to the canvas, but if one were to regard the colorful circles as over-sized wheels, it's someone standing in a wagon, reaching out to encourage the horse pulling the cart, painted on an adjacent canvas that you don't own.

I don't mind the pink circle so much in the photo -- it goes with the purplish waves in the lower left-hand corner.

Yeah, band-aid color. You nailed it.
