Good news for cattle and corn

I am profoundly uncomfortable with almost everything about my physical appearance these days, in no small part because of the effects of the last six months of orthodontics on my voice and face, but I made a crown of flowers for the solstice this evening at the Harvard Museum of Natural History and I am proud of it, so here it is. I'm wearing it.

There are daisies in there, and ivy, and some other climbing plant, and green and yellow ribbons which may or may not be visible. I cannot ever remember making a garland before and assumed I would be bad at it. It was by far not the shabbiest example wandering around the museum. It is now hanging on the nail on [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel's office door, because my office door doesn't have a nail. I'm hoping it will dry and turn into a keepsake. We may not have the right weather for it. I wore it all night until I came home.

SOLSTICE. Right! That explains the flower crowns and billowy white dresses I saw at the subway turnstile. OKAY.

(That is a lovely photo and flower crown!)

What a great flower crown! Perfect for the summer solstice; it looks like pure summer made into a coronet.

That is a great solstice crown! I love how simple it is, and the directions the daisies are pointing.

That's a great garland! If I'd made one, half the petals would be off by accident....

I know you're not fishing for compliments but I've always thought of you as quite remarkably beautiful.

This morning is a good morning for it--brightly sunny.

It's a gorgeous garland, and you look perfect wearing it.

Youth, beauty, warm dark eyes, a wistful smile--I wish I had a painting of that photo.

It looks remarkably natural on you. Perhaps the flowers were always waiting for you to realize that they were meant to be written into garlands and worn. The effect is luminous and lovely. Ever so.

*applause* Good work, it looks lovely.

I also applaud you as someone who (like me) is not comfortable with their photographic image being willing to post such an image.

Merry Solstice! That is a wonderful crown that suits you as only the season's apex can.

It, and you, look great. I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you before. It's nice to have a face to go with the name. Thanks.
