And you read all your letters from oceans away, then you took them to the bottom of the sea

Rabbit, rabbit.

My poem "In Conclusion" has been nominated for the 2015 Dwarf Stars Award.

Last night I dreamed of reading a very short story with pen-and-ink illustrations in sand-gold and sea-green; it was an excerpt from a larger graphic novel about mermaids the size of reefs and atolls. Spells were ordinary words spoken backward. I knew even in the dream that I'd seen that conceit first in the work of Patricia McKillip, especially The Book of Atrix Wolfe (1995), but I liked the line "All magic is written in a mirror."

Oooh, mermaids that size would have barnacles and anemones growing on them, and have trains of fish following them around.

congrats on the nomination!

That's excellent news!

I definitely agree that mermaids that size would have a fascinating existence, replete with the barnacles from the comment below.

Backwards-spoken spells date back at least to the comic that Superman first appeared in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zatara
