I'll learn to type, work in an office all day, then at night go home and write
Good news: my laptop aten't dead! I did not take it to the Genius Bar; I took it to my father and we spent a day and a half wrestling with various technical stupidities, including several that interfered with the first two kinds of backup we tried. All of my data is safe. The laptop itself has some problems, but none of them should kill it this week. I am relieved. This is the only laptop I have ever named and I am sentimentally attached to it. Also, I couldn't afford a new one right now.
Bad news: I am so behind on three different kinds of work for this week.
The maple tree outside our front balcony is flaming crimson and madder and several shades of firelight in the afternoon. I hadn't been noticing it much, but it's beautiful.

Seriously, though, keep us posted: I might be able to hook you up with a used Macbook if Bertie Owen does suddenly expire.

Where is your subject line from? I read it and felt a pang of sympathy for the person saying it.

Thank you! This week has just been ridiculous. This month. This year. Now I sound like that conversation from Babylon 5.

It's from "Anthony!" by the Secret History. I can make out about a third of the lyrics to that song and that's one of them. It seemed appropriate.

In the spirit of both the category "Songs" and the category "Why Don't We Ever Get A Fuckin' Break For Once," my own personal theme songs this year have both been by the Mountain Goats. "Amy," which you introduced me to back in 2012, thank you, that was a good choice ("And stay alive/ Just stay alive"), and "This Year" ("I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me").
[edit: LJ keeps eating this comment; forgive me if it pops up three times.]
