How can a bicycle ever be an implement of harm?

I have been sick for weeks. First there was March into April. Then there was the stomach flu at the end of April. As soon as that wore off, I got the ear infections. I've still got the ear infections. Now I have a sinus infection starting and I'm waiting for a doctor to call me back and tell me what the hell; in the meantime, I am exhausted all the time and I feel like a mental blank and I am not writing anything. It's very tiring.

I found a used trade paperback of Mary Stewart's The Hollow Hills (1973) at the Harvard Book Store on Saturday; it has a dreadful cover, but I don't have to look at it while I'm reading. I'm honestly unsure whether I've re-read the book since high school, college at the latest. The Crystal Cave (1970) was the one I always went back to. Merlin's voice is still familiar. Still there.

From today's file of Things I Had No Idea: a short film adaptation of Angela Carter's "The Lady of the House of Love." It's the video for Daisy Chainsaw's "Hope Your Dreams Come True" (1992). I saw it mentioned on the internet and wondered if they meant "inspired by," but no, it's remarkably close (and then it's dedicated to her at the end, so there's no doubt). It's done in the style of a silent movie. Not quite Caligari, but the shot of the Countess in her cobweb-hung bedroom is amazing. Plus I don't know how I missed this band at the time; I should like more of them, please.

I hope you're doing better very soon!

What work is the subject of your post taken from? Google is happy to point me at the author but not at the story, essay, or novel where the sentence appeared.

Thanks. I recall a bicycle-riding character in the Wizard of Oz movie whose intentions were also less than benign.

I'm so sorry. Is there a spell "Banish Bobcat"?

(My hunch is that the ear infection and the sinus infection must be linked, but that is probably just my own experience talking.)

I love that video. Daisy Chainsaw were an amazing band, and I am so glad I actually got to see them. I used to own a promo copy of that video, but sold it for some insane amount of cash on eBay about a decade ago, because I needed to. I am so very glad for YouTube. You need to also look at some of KatieJane Garside's solo stuff, as well as Queen Adreena. Last I knew, there were a few really wonderful videos floating around on YouTube.

I saw them at Club Babyhead in Providence. I think it had transitioned from Rocket to Babyhead by then. Tiny, tiny place. I wish, to this day, I had photographed that show. It's possible they did not allow it, and that's why I didn't. Also possible I was too broke to buy film. I only managed to see so many shows due to being a DJ at WRIU and being good friends with the music director. I rarely had the cash for merch, but I did get to see the bands. So that was good.
I mostly remember KatyJane taking a drill to a babydoll. I need to see if there are any video recordings of that tour anywhere.

You haven't started taking hormonal birth control, have you? For me it inevitably results in just such a series of unfortunate infections. Regardless, I hope things clear up as soon as possible.

I loved The Crystal Caves--like you, it was Merlin all the way, for me.

Daisy Chainsaw is an awesome band name.

Wish we could get your immune system into assertiveness training . . .

time sink.

Never mind a Tom Waits title, don't you SEE?! It's also an awesome science fiction concept. Maybe too tongue in cheek. But maybe NOT. Gonna wash that man not out of my life, but out of my whole timeline. Oh the potential. Timeline murder mystery.

This morning will be when I check out Daisy Chainsaw--I was too tired last night to do anything but admire the title. band name.

Also, while there is very little Daisy Chainsaw to be had (at least in original form), I think I have it all. Care package coming soon.
