Death's a fine substitute for panorama
Arrived today in the mail: Chaz Brenchley's Blood Waters (1996).
desperance, thank you so much—it looks wonderful. I'm looking forward to reading the stories, even if I can't track them down on site.
Arrived through other means: stomach flu with fever. I feel a lot less like endorsing that one.

Your medical luck, or lack thereof, is uncanny. I really want the universe to give you a break now, please.

I would be cool with that!
(Today is better. I've eaten some miso soup and some goat's milk custard. Yesterday I had ginger beer.)

There are one or two of those stories I would not recommend reading with an under-par stomach.

I recommend Shelter (1999) unreservedly and I liked Desdaemona (2011) quite a lot, although I failed to follow up with Pandaemonium (2012) and should do something about that one of these days; I need to track down the D'Espérance books similarly. I have read assorted short fiction and liked almost all of it. Have some Victorian Mars because it's readily accessible!

Thank you. It was worst the first day; I estimate being able to eat food with actual structure by tomorrow!

Thanks. I am definitely better.

I read three the first night and seem to have been all right. I'm not asking for the book to prove me wrong, but I have a high threshold for being physically disturbed by art.
(I am much better by today. Dinner was miso soup, hummus, and tabbouleh, which was way more real food than last night!)

Thank you. So far, I am!

I'm about halfway through the book now and so far they're great. The foreword mentions "carved in stone, engraved in steel and set in concrete at St. Peter's Riverside in Monkwearmouth, Sunderland"—do you have any pictures of the texts in situ? Or could at least tell me which ones ended up where?
As to the other news, I am feeling significantly better than I did on Saturday. I am almost back to eating what I would consider normal food for me.

You are a fine friend.
(I am much better today.)
