Glitter and be gay

Library Journal has reviewed Singing Innocence and Experience, and I am seriously thrilled.

Taaffe, Sonya. Singing Innocence and Experience. Prime. Nov. 2005. 228p. ISBN 0-8095-5070-9. $29.95; pap. ISBN 0-8095-4479-2. $17.95. FANTASY

In "Shade and Shadow," the lead story in this collection of 23 stories and poems, a young woman assuages her loneliness through self-inflicted pain and the presence of ghosts until she comes across two of the oldest lovers in the world. The author's iridescent prose captures her keen understanding of mythological truths and their manifestation in the modern world. From a modern-day golem seeking its purpose for existence ("Clay Lies Still") to a young woman's perplexity at bringing home a unicorn ("Singing Innocence and Experience"), these tales present a unique and altogether startling approach to fantasy. Essential for every fantasy or short story collection. (from the SF/Fantasy column by Jackie Cassada)

Iridescent prose. Yea, I am like unto the wing of a butterfly. Only I do not flake off and become useless for flight when touched.

This is a good month.

All of the reviews I've read capture it, that thing about your writing (the few tales that I've read) so clearly, and beautifully. Now I've got to use all of these butterfly wings that I have in a piece of art about all of this. :)

You will! I have to go out and get some materials today or tomorrow and then I'll get busy.

May your book's sales take flight that the many may learn what we lucky initiates already knew. No use being Pythagorean about this.

So long as it doesn't involve your (or my) being set on fire or otherwise enduring a horribly painful death before being reborn.
