That is a gorgeous poem.

Thank you. It was one of the kind that fell into my head all at once, which are fun.

I have a lot of sympathy for overworked bureaucratic figures. I've never been able to figure out where it came from, since my most common experience with bureaucracy involves waiting on hold and hating every minute of it, but I can point as far back as Sempitern Walker in Diana Wynne Jones' A Tale of Time City (1987) and as recently as [livejournal.com profile] derspatchel's Provost in the Anarchist Society of Shakespeareans' Measure for Measure last year, so I really shouldn't be surprised when it transfers itself to mythologies.

I am sorry for your week. And for your loss.
