Live it up, Magenta baby
1. Bertie Owen aten't dead! My father took him apart and put him back together and he won't live forever, but then again, who does? The Apple store was no help. I dearly hope not to need any more technical-medical assistance for a while.
2. I aten't dead, either, but I am very tired. I think I have slept maybe four hours since Friday, not counting the exhausted dozes on the bus to and from Amherst.
derspatchel's reunion was fun. He showed me around his hometown. We profited by a used record store and a place that sold crazy glazed donuts. I have a dollar pamphlet on Garden Lore of Ancient Athens published by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens in 1963. I also have an awful sore throat that meant I spent most of tonight's dinner writing notes to people when I wanted to talk about fandom and social behavior. It's not as cool.
Was still worth it.
3. Rabbit, rabbit. I am going to bed.

And glad the reunion went well. Funny to think I might have seen someone on the streets of Amherst this past weekend and thought, "Hey, that looks like Sovay--and it *might actually have been you*" (Actually, though, I was only briefly in Amherst over the past two days, and spent most of that time at the Big Y supermarket.)
Everybody loves that new donut store! (I haven't been but both Wakanomori and Little Springtime have brought samples home.)

(We were in the Big Y, but only for about fifteen minutes on Saturday night. I bought rice cakes and nectarines.)

I can vouch for the Elvis, the chili honey, and the maple-glazed cake donut. Rob selected the French toast donut and I have no idea how it tastes, but it was visually impressive. We ate the maple-glazed while waiting for the bus to Springfield on Sunday morning and then the humidity melded the other three together in their bag such that the paper became translucent, which Rob referred to as "your window to heart attack." No regrets.

Awesome!
I bought it from Mystery Train Records, which had a handful of printed materials as well as the listening kind. For a dollar, which was its original price in 1963. I think this is the only book I have ever purchased whose cost, even used, has not been subject to inflation.

I'm happy to hear this. I wish you freedom from need of technical assistance and the ability to converse comfortably without want of pen and paper.
Happy July!

So far, so good!

Rob won their raffle! We don't even live in Amherst! Now we have to come up with some excuse to visit and pick up free donuts!

Probably not for a couple of months, honestly, because we don't have a car (and the buses were hell), but you should absolutely meet us! I want more than a top-speed afternoon to get to know the Pioneer Valley.

A few months is fine! I'll be away in August anyway :-)
