Today has been almost completely for crud.

handful_ofdust sent me two wonderful things, one of which arrived in the mail this afternoon and one of which I have just shown derspatchel in exchange for the White House's official response to a petition for the Death Star ("The Administration does not support blowing up planets"):

a) the recent Region 1 DVD of Twins of Evil (1971), starring Peter Cushing and a lot of boobs.

b) TARKIN VAN.



(I also wanted to mention somewhere that I won Pick Up the Phone Booth and Die in two moves earlier this week, even if I think it may have been mostly through a basic lack of knowledge of how text games work. It took me somewhat longer to work out When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Firetruck. And then I played Pick Up the Phone Booth and Aisle ad surrealism. Warning; Google-search that one and you'll get TV Tropes.)

My day has still been almost completely for crud, but it is about to contain a lot more Peter Cushing.

I like the very practical "Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?"

Thank you. I dreamed that I was taking a train westward to meet derspatchel in some city that wasn't Chicago; I wound up with a two-hour layover when I had to change lines, so I visited the nearby amusement park and had time to ride their new coaster twice. (And then caught my train. I suspect this is not quite plausible in our world, but the next America over I bet it could happen.) This was an unequivocally better start to the day, and then it was followed by the events I sketched above for ashlyme. Things are still wrong, but at least today did not compound them.
