In the wild October nighttime
Man, today was both Simchas Torah and the two hundred and sixth anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and I missed it. I should have sunk a ship with a machzor, or something.
Also Ursula K. Le Guin's birthday, which I am grateful for.
Brass Monkey, "Dr Fauster's Tumblers/The Night of Trafalgar/Prince William"
But our gallants all the while after fighting through the day
Were beating up and down the dark sou'west of Cadiz Bay
The Klezmatics, "Simkhes-Toyre"
Afile di shtern mit der levone
Zenen gegangen trinken vayn
Tori Amos, "Black-Dove (January)"
They don't know you've already lived
On the other side of the galaxy
P.S. I don't know if you would call this a bonus, but looking to see if I had any genuine science-fiction songs on my computer:
Eliza Carthy, "Space Girl"
She said that Venus was too hot and Saturn not much fun
And bug-eyed monsters tended to be just a trifle dumb
She said I'd need a blaster and a freezer gun
And I did, I did, I did

Ships were made for sinking, whiskey made for drinking. If we were made of cellophane...
I should have liked to see that!

I'm just getting to that point in the process where I realize that I've skipped a chapter I'm now going to have slate right into the exact middle of the stuff I've already written. It's hilarious to me that this must apparently happen every time, but...there you go.

That would be an impressive thing indeed. Please just be sure it's a ship that deserves being sunk?
Thanks for the tracks! I'm looking forward to listening.

I read it the ArtScroll translation of the Song of Songs and it committed suicide.I'd have thought of something.

Thank you. It was a toss-up between that and "Flying Dutchman."
Take a trip on a rocket ship, baby, where the sea is the sky
I know the guy who runs the place and he's out of sight . . .
'Cause they can't see what you were born to be
They can't see me
They can't be what they can't believe
They can't see what you see

Well, yes. I am not an indiscriminate siren.
Thanks for the tracks! I'm looking forward to listening.
Enjoy!

I didn't think you were, but it's always good to have confirmation of these things. Thank you.
Enjoy!
I am. Thanks!

And have you seen the vid to "Space Girl"? That's the first context in which I heard that song, and I greatly enjoy it.
