Purgatory is open today

My poem "Cemetery Theater" has been accepted by Not One of Us. It is based on a dream I had three nights ago, of Death and late-night stage sets.

There have been some minor changes to my Readercon schedule, which I will note later. I am on the second day of epic housecleaning. I was going to write that you cannot possibly imagine how much I loathe it, but you probably can, if you are the owner of a summer kitchen who has just discovered that mice have been living in their stove.

Here is the very appropriate song that [livejournal.com profile] cucumberseed sent me when we had mice.

Cheese

Oh, mice... so much worse than the tiny ant infestation we had earlier in the week.

Congrats re: the poem!

The opposite of congrats re: the mice.

It must be great to have the poem accepted so soon after writing it, especially given the doubts you were experiencing -- if I had that many great venues (or any, really) that were as supportive of my work as you have of yours, I think I would write a lot more. It seems to me that you richly deserve such support; I expect and hope it will only grow. More power to you.

I would guess the only great thing about evicting mice from such a home would be finishing the job; hope it goes as well as can be.

I'm delighted by the acceptance. I'm very sorry to hear about the mice. Living in the stove sounds particularly awful--I know we had some that took shelter in the drawer beneath the stove, but I don't _think_ they'd taken up fulltime residence. Good luck with the lot.

I'm intrigued that you have a summer kitchen--are they common in your part of the world? I've always thought of them as a Southern thing.

Yay! ...I'll take an ice cream soda for contributions ethereal and liminal.

Congratulations! I'm happy to see it found a good home so quickly :)

I had a mouse make a nest to die in my primary stove, on Valentine's Day two years ago. I empathize.

Also? This.

Congrats on the sale! And eep, mice.
