It was also reprinted in Rich Horton's
The Year's Best Science Fiction and Fantasy 2009.
I have actually added just that book to my Amazon wishlist for that reason. :)
I think they belong to different times, but definitely the same pack of archetype.
There was in fact a time travel theory associated with this idea.
