. . . με νῦν Ἀνακτορίας ὀνέμναισ' οὐ παρεοίσας

I gave a guest lecture on Sappho and the Greek lyric poets for Valentine’s Day. What did all of you do?

I made a list.

Postal Runners.
Guardian Bells.
Fantasy W K Kellogg.
Owls with eyes in their primary feathers.
Yew Jelly.
Snake bite priests controlled by their snakes.
Evil road spirits.

And now I'm trying to figure out how they all fit together in a story. And what evil road spirits look like.

ETA Ugh! Stupid comment posts before I got a chance to say that your lecture sounds awesome and on subjects which I would like to know more.

That is an excellent thing to do on Valentine's Day.

I'm, as usual for a Monday, at the office, working, noveling, sending out poems, etc.!

I wrote up part of a chapter, explained what we understand of the outer solar system to a visiting prof, applied for time to observe a spinning dwarf planet's moon in May, and made the best saffron fish balls I've ever tasted.

I'd still like to have been able to hear the lecture! :)

I'd have loved to hear that lecture. I went to work and had such a busy morning that by the afternoon I thought it was Tuesday. And then I worked an hour overtime, because it is production week. Now I'm at home with my husband and a cup of tea.

Got a new thermostat installed, ate what may have been the best General Tso's Chicken I've ever had (at the fabulous Sichuan Gourmet), discovered that my favorite Pentel EnerGel pens come in a click version (and bought same), napped. I believe there was a Ben and Jerry's pom-raspberry-blueberry smoothie in there as well.

Oh, how wonderful! Those lucky kids. May I have a copy, please? Or did you improvise from notes?

On the bright side, I got back from Connecticut...

I GMed a role-playing game, but they didn't get to the massacre, which will presumably happen next week.

I bought a DVD shelf, or rather bookcase, because we have too many DVDs for the shelf they are on. And I had lunch with Z and we made plans to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibition later in the week.

I sneezed and coughed a lot (look surprised). Then we took the toddler out for spinach and feta pizza slices and milkshakes, and she charmed free cookies out of the place too.

I am glad you gave a lecture. *pets*

I bought new clothes, cleaned the house, went grocery shopping with a recalcitrant three-year-old and did not have nearly enough time for leisurely conversation with you. :)

Sounds lovely and appropriate, that.

I went to class. There was no regular tea, and I'd left my stash at home, so I was stuck drinking something with açai in it. Warned everyone that if I died they shouldn't drink the açai tea--used the wrong verb ("take death" instead of "find death"), but got the point across. Wished everyone a Happy SS Cyril and Methodius Day, which lead to an interesting discussion about relics and the Cyrillic alphabet. Adorably nervous undergraduate gave a presentation about the differences between Texas and NYC, and did well with it. I tried not to think about whether I should do something about the silver at my temples.

Came back on the train, had supper with my parents and aunt at one of the better diners in Fairfield County.
