And one for Mahler

For my birthday, and for Halloween, my brother and his wife built me a sparkly purple goth kitty.

Her name is Minerva. The hat was not included in the original package.

Otherwise, this afternoon (a matinée, a Pinter play) I saw The Caretaker at the Central Square Theater and loved it; it was my first exposure to Harold Pinter beyond his spectral cameo in The Tailor of Panama and I'm very inclined to explore further. I cannot promise that I will get around to a proper review, but I don't know that I would describe the play as either hilarious or unsettling; say that no one in it is cardboard and it ends neither predictably nor bleakly. And I would watch John Kuntz read the phone book, or anything he chose. He was an arresting Heisenberg in the ART's Copenhagen and an odder, more playful Don Pedro than I was used to in the Actors' Shakespeare Project's Much Ado About Nothing and here he is not to be looked away from, especially when he is doing no more than talking softly to the dark with his hands fidgeting and a half-sanded board across his knees. Support the arts, people. I like those voices in the dark.

Minerva is fearsomely adorable. I hope she gives you your hat back.

You write the voices in the dark rather well.

Nine

Best. Kitty. Ever.

...and happy birthday! The light of the day of your birthday has only just got back from the Kuiper belt: therefore it's still your birthday ;)

Cute kitty!

The hat looks good on her, although I do have to second [livejournal.com profile] nineweaving's hope that she will give you your hat back when you need it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the play.

I shall convey your compliments!

Thanks!

One of the things I wish I had an unlimited budget for is theater.

Indeed. It's a pity somebody won't hire you to review theatre--you're very good at it, at least to my way of thinking.

Hey, I saw John Kuntz do his one-man show at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors' Theatre, some years ago. He was excellent, even though I found the show's actual content irritating. And he was in "Fuddy Meers", which is a very odd show but enjoyable, and he was completely charming. Since then, I haven't seen him around much, so it's good to know he's doing shows like this. "Caretaker" sounds like brilliant use of his talents, and I wish I could get away for a theatre trip.

Also, happy belated birthday!
