For the day after my birthday, Eric took me to Crane Beach. Then to Woodman's, for fried clams. There was a sailor's delight of a sunset and we spent hours before then walking the shore and the dunes and the saltmarsh of the Castle Neck River. My hair is impenetrably in wind-knots.

Ah, the beach. The waves, the sand, the beautiful sunsets, the attacks of wild clams and tentacles and leviathans from the deep. What could be better?

There was a regrettable absence of tentacles, but otherwise it was lovely.
