Stepping like a tightrope walker

Today's mail brought my contributor's copy of Full Unit Hookup #9 (sadly, the last issue of the magazine: go and support them while they still exist!), in which my flash "Pisces" appears alongside pieces by [livejournal.com profile] stephanieburgis, [livejournal.com profile] upstart_crow, [livejournal.com profile] las, and other worthies. Also an awesome postcard from [livejournal.com profile] schreibergasse at the Edinburgh Fringe, featuring a sort of tartan Laocoön. I will have to travel somewhere with sufficiently weird postcards now.

I will write tomorrow about Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean's MirrorMask (2005), which I watched last night with [livejournal.com profile] ericmvan, [livejournal.com profile] nineweaving, and the usual suspects, and which more than pleasantly surprised me. (Why has Dave McKean worked on no further films? I'd trust him with Angela Carter.) Right now, I would settle for this headache falling asleep before I do.

I love that line--I read it and heard "witches hat" right away.

Glad to hear about the lovely mail.

You don't actually have to travel very far for weird postcards. The Catskills, for instance, are full of them.

Sorry to hear about your headache. I hope you're feeling better soon.

We're strange people out here in upstate NY.

So we do deserve to have strange postcards . . .

Well, we're pretty strange in Connecticut as well.

But we haven't got strange postcards. Why am I feeling all left out now? ;-)
