Things fall apart

My story "Another Coming" (Not One of Us #32, September 2004) has been reprinted online at the magazine's website, with story notes, as part of the site's spring update. Also included in the update is Karen R. Porter's Rhysling-nominated poem "She". Hope you like!

In honor of the Ides of March, I also offer a silly quiz with some tentative relevance to Roman history.
(Cut for . . . look, it was a choice between this and some "Which Roman Emperor Are You?" quizzes that all stuck with me with Augustus. It's easy to be warm and fuzzy in your old age when, by the age of eighteen, you'd killed off anybody who ever crossed you. But pray God I'm not that conservative.)

claudius
You are Claudius! Although you may appear
incredibly foolish, you're actually a damn
smart guy. Well, at least when it comes to
intellectual thinking. Uncovering what a dirty,
dirty tramp your wife is isn't exactly your
forte.

Which I, Claudius Character Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

. . . Besides, this way I get to be played by Derek Jacobi.

If you can kill everyone who's ever crossed you by the age of eighteen and then break the habit, that's still worth something. People like that frequently just keep killing everyone who ever crosses them in the future, rather than realizing that once you've attained a certain level of authority you can stop doing that and focus your energies on more interesting and likeable things.

Still doesn't sound quite like you, though.
