There's nothing here but echoes

Today's excitements included a more complicated dentist's appointment than originally envisioned and having to stop very suddenly short on I-93, but I did technically find my way to Scollay Square.

Pretty, in its way. I started to ask whether that's what people call brutalist in style, remembered I could use the internet, and found that it's made with the blood of social injustices.

Those both sound bad enough independently; I hope they were not related.

I hope your soft food was at least delicious.

Ah, that big concrete hulk. I used to walk past it twice a day once upon a job.

*Sends healing vibes*

I can’t recall if I’ve ever told you about Robarts Library, but if you like Brutalism, it’s a gem: https://alumni.utoronto.ca/news/robarts-library-50-how-fort-book-became-campus-living-room

When in Toronto, Lord Vader stays downtown at the beautiful Robarts Research Library!

More complicated dentistry is never a good thing to add to a day! *hugs*

Great angle in the photo, though.

Btw, idk if you are up to playing around with it or if it would be sufficiently useful/amusing, but the Brit Newspaper Archive site that I subscribe to sometimes is currently free on Find My Past until the 16th, to celebrate hitting 100 million pages. (Chiefly local papers, but a couple of nationals, and various professional journals and things, including The Stage): https://www.findmypast.co.uk/home

I have extra appreciation for your having gotten to Scollay Square now that I've accessed the walking directions ;-)

... Complicated dental appointments, by contrast, earn more dread than appreciation

I'm sorry to hear about the dental ambush, and the sudden stop on 93 sounds alarming, but I'm glad you made it to the place where ghost of Leonard Nemoy's Scollay Square lives. There are ghosts layered upon ghosts there. I always see the ghost of William Lloyd Garrison's Scollay Square (the offices of the _Liberator_ were on Cornhill Street).
