I don't know if a but is required? That sounds pretty perfect for the new year.
(Unless there's some other essential Rosh Hashanah thing that you haven't gotten to do? And admittedly, while the "making honeycakes" part sounds fun and seasonal, the everything else going on... not so much.)
Anyway, to a good year and a sweet one! I am going to have an apple. Please forgive any overtiredness-related cluelessness/foot-in-mouth disease in this comment. Maybe apples will help.

Thank you! Almost every year since we stopped attending services for the High Holidays as a family, we've had dinner for Erev Rosh Hashanah with apples and honey, chicken and challah, and this year it just wasn't going to happen.
