I could never fall in love with a member of a record club

My day has been bracketed with news of artists found dead and unfair doesn't enter into it, it is bullshit to keep losing people who enrich the world while so many who do exactly the opposite still weigh on its earth.

Music I have been listening to lately ranges from Sloppy Seconds' "You Got a Great Body, But Your Record Collection Sucks" (1998) to KLER x alyona alyona's "Тільки в твоїх обіймах (Only in your arms)" (2024). The Dø's "Slippery Slope" (2011) has been on frequent repeat: I got it originally from and still associate it with this vid. See also the case of Ke$ha's "Die Young" (2010).

Have an amaryllis.

The amaryllis / snow juxtaposition is perfect.

Whoa, the news about Gene Hackman and his wife and dog is unnerving :( I guess we'll find out more as time goes on. And it's very sad about Michelle Trachtenberg too (and also kind of mysterious)--very sad when people die so young.

Looking forward to checking out the songs!

And thanks for sharing the amaryllis <3.

Trachtenberg's death has made me curious about mortality soon after liver transplant. I am waiting for the autopsy news. Even then, I'm not planning to indulge in blame if it seems that she was not doing a good job with anti-rejections meds.

Ouf, I didn't realize that whole part of the equation (I couldn't access the NYT article, and, embarrassingly, didn't know Trachtenberg by name, so I just searched on headlines after seeing Sovay's post--but I didn't realize how many factors were at play.)

Thank you! I appreciate it. After reading [personal profile] lauradi7dw's comment, I checked out the news again and did find stories mentioning the liver transplant. That's hard :(

local news (I'm in New Mexico) is speculating that it was carbon monoxide. given that the poor dog also passed away, it seems the most likely. very sad story to wake up to.

That's what my husband suggested; it makes the most sense (and yeah...)

Wow, what a winsome flower. No wonder it turns up in so much poetry, an off-the-shoulder, embroidered-corset sexy wink of a blossom if there ever was one!

That is a lovely amaryllis and snow photo.

Yes, it is awful to lose artists while those other creeps still get to do their thing.

I hear you. I am ridiculous and useless and not eloquent tonight and I owe you a better comment sometime. But I hear you

I find myself saying fairly regularly "the wrong people die young". I suppose Hackman was not exactly young but it keeps feeling like the wrong people are the only ones dying.
