spatch having to work on his actual birthday, we used the available hours of the afternoon to celebrate the occasion with waffles. I gave him a card with gannets and the DVDs of Detectorists (2014–2022) which I had been hiding in time-honored fashion in the chest of drawers. He carries fifty years of time now. I think it's pretty neat.
