Good morning, can you sink off your skin?

No one: "Have you considered the shortage of whump featuring Dave, the haunted, compromised, plausibly queer-coded bookkeeper played by Wendell Corey in I Walk Alone (1947) who is, let's face it, already a pretty stressed character?"

My brain: "A Good Accountant, All Right."

I blame the general aura of noir prompts scattered throughout [community profile] threesentenceficathon by [personal profile] theseatheseatheopensea. For actual three-sentence fics, "Fall from the Sky" and "Floriography" have been transferred to AO3. The former appears to be the first fic in the archive for Repeat Performance (1947).

I have been given a wall calendar featuring the art of Wayne Thiebaud. I hope he would understand that describing him as the Edward Hopper of random American objects is intended as a delighted compliment.

Ah, the man who painted cake! There’s a cake one that isn’t in the calendar that is the best for its extremely precise and cool lines. Of cake. (There are four or five cake ones but “Cakes, 1963” is the one I mean.)

I left kudos anonymously because phone, but will comment at work! I was rooting for the accountant even though I don’t go here!

Having clocked in the link that painter description seems both apt and flattering!

Oh, well done on more words! And, I mean, sometimes someone Has To Write The Thing, and sometimes unfairly, you Have To Do It Yourself (goddammit world), even if Nobody Asked For It [TM], although usually, sooner or later, someone will be very glad to find it! Deeply so, I should think, in case of your writing. <3

And that is cool art for a calendar. I suppose the year ought to have something good in it...

by the way, if you wanted to remove your "William Williams" tag in favour of a now-canonical "William Williams (Repeat Performance)" you will find in the drop down menu that would be a thing you could do. I'm not here & I'm not asking you to because that would be very wrong of me, I'm just noting an Interesting Fact in passing, you understand.

I hope so, especially since I'm not sure I even asked for it so much as it decidedly showed up.

Writing, what even is it?

That is indeed an interesting fact which I have duly noted.

My brain: "A Good Accountant, All Right."

Now I think you should start writing noir novels.

That aura of noir prompts is my new party trick! XD

I'm very happy if it helped to inspire such excellent writing!

(And I predict I'll be on a Blue Nile kick this weekend...)

It's brilliant! Keep it up!

I might have scattered a few more prompts already...

I will have to listen to more of them. Thank you for the introduction on top of everything else.

You're very welcome! I'm glad to spread the word, I love their music! <3

"A Good Accountant, All Right" was GREAT. In the comment I left on AO3 I said I didn't know the source material, but now I find that in fact I commented on your review of I Walk Alone--so I did have at least that amount of passing knowledge of it. But I didn't remember when I was reading your fic. Really great.
