'Cause I play the old song, you play the new song, I play the old song and it goes on
As a matter of record, not only did the painters do a nice job on the reconstructed ceiling of our bathroom and its walls which had been somewhat battered in the process, they reinstalled the ceiling light and we are no longer showering in a dim cave, nine months after the original ceiling-killing flood. I started listening to the 1978 and 2019 BBC Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead so as to be able to compare Freddie and Toby Jones as the Player and realized that the quiet sniffle of Alfred in the earlier production may be the first time I've heard Anthony Daniels when he wasn't a robot. Less happily, my twenty-nine-year-old sound system may be finally breaking down. The speakers pull perpetually to the left. Last time it was the leads which could be stripped and re-cut, but I'm not sure I can fix a rheostat.

Thank you! It's amazing to have a bathroom that just stops at the top!

The stove's electric!
Many thanks for the Stoppard links.
You're welcome. I am particularly enjoying, in addition to the Players, Edward Petherbridge's Guildenstern.

I'd forgotten about him being in it, but I thought that too. Although I didn't go and check, so it may not be so.
Sorry about your sound system, though! I hope it is fixable somehow. (I can only listen to things like that sitting or lying somewhere quiet with earphones in, but I still mainly rely on my archaic little mp3 player for that, so I do not look forward to the day when it realises that 20+ years is a long time for technology and gives up. I do listen on the phone to BBC Sounds sometimes, but I don't like it. Which is to say, many commiserations on old-tech reliance. I do hope it's ok. :/)
(Oh, and I started Arcadia and am enjoying it so far!)

It's like a real bathroom again! We could put objects on the tiny decorative almost useless shelf now that we are no longer afraid of them collecting plaster dust or fiberglass!
... at once? XD And, aw, hope you enjoy them!
So far, so good! I did start out switching them off, but stopped when I realized the variations in the text. I enjoyed the 1978 and will listen to the other half of 2019 after I have slept.

Thank you. The right speaker died in the night, but I fiddled with wires until it came back at least enough not to drive me up the wall, even if the overall sound is still off-center. Strength to your mp3 player in return!

idk, that sounds like extreme living to me! XD (Go for it!)

Oh, good! And also, oh gosh, you really were alternating them? XD

I have achieved the modern bit now, and Bill Nighy and Felicity Kendal \o/
Btw, this morning in my AO3 inbox, I got this tag: Nathaniel Park character, so I'm just feeling a bit stalked. ;-)
(I do like when someone doggedly decides they are going to do all the fic for x actor's characters. It's usually the typical fandom darlings, but wrangling some of the RPF, you get the person who's over in the corner working their way through Tim CUrry or whatever, and I cheer them on, although I do wish some of them would use the proper fandom tags, lol. Someone's been doing Anthony Higgins lately too, which I thought you'd also probably approve of. XD)

I'm glad they did a good job considering what it cost you!

Thank you! We have stated firmly to the universe that we are not up for ironic new plumbing problems!

And hurray for a nice paint job!

Thank you! I hope so, too. I've never had another. I re-did the wires on the right speaker and it's still fainter than the left, but at last sound check it's still working.
And hurray for a nice paint job!
Our ceiling is no longer sheetrock with holes in it! It's fancy!
