I went to bed last night wanting to wake up to something good, like an adolescence for my godchild and my niece and and an old age for my parents that I did not have to fight so hard for. I am so tired of the sensation of history wrenching itself awry which I have experienced since my very first chance to vote. I wanted even a narrow margin of proof that a necessary body of my fellow citizens would choose the chance of amending the future over the pleasure of burning it down and I have no patience for the hot takes already proliferating about how no other choice was ever possible in America, which rather seems to let those who open-eyed chose hatred off the hook. I am off to contest a parking ticket, since none of the petty impediments of life have had the decency to evaporate in the face of the wall of the void. I can't believe I have to keep staying alive out of spite.

I'm relieved the results are not close. I don't know and have no wish to know how bad it would have gotten if the election were contested.

I would rather have elected Harris and dealt with whatever came after. I would rather have the path forward.

I can't see how it was possible, this time around, not to know who and what they were voting for. He certainly told everyone often enough.

In my gut, I am with you, but with my mind I am unsure due to news coverage and also, from his first night in a phone bank, a coworker said

talked to an undecided voter in Nevada who said he's working two jobs and just hasn't had time to follow the election and make up his mind. I hadn't realized voters like that still existed! Anyway, going through the talking points provided by the campaign seemed effective, and by the end the call, he said he thought he would vote for Harris.
