I still wonder who lit the fire at the very beginning. And if the keeper was sitting in the chair for most of the time, watching. Did the score remind you of Assignment Two? (There was an interview around the release of Treacle Walker where Garner spoke well of the series, but I can't find it now.)

It's quite likely I saw this at the time - I know I'd read Elidor and the Bringamen novels round then.
