It is my birthday. I am forty-three years old, the age of I have no idea which fictional characters. I woke to a card from my godmother and a book of queer horror essays from my parents. At midnight, spatch solemnly presented me with a spoonful of cinnamon sugar. Autumn is chasing itself through the clouds outside.
