I make a stew with rainwater and frozen meat, thick with pine needles, warm beer, and baby teeth
I was in bed for just about twelve hours last night. I estimate I slept between eight and ten of them. The only dream I remember is the one which had to do with cider-making and a museum in
nineweaving's Cloud. I spent a chunk of the afternoon on the phone—to a long-distance friend whom I miss, so even when the conversation becomes contemporarily grim it has the pants beat off a doctor's office—and walked out to see about the flowers.

It was so humid that at first the lens fogged up.

The day lilies were out in force, not to mention color and texture.

All flowers get O'Keeffe up close enough.

Especially in the overcast that feels like a storm gathering and seems to have no intention of breaking, I loved even the decaying colors.

The hot pollen hearts.

This one looked particularly sealike, the ruffle of the mantle of a cephalopod.

Or sometimes a Dalí clock.

Thistles? I approved of their determined purple.

Now I know and can properly say hi to the yucca flowers.
It turns out a different friend of mine is moving his family to Canada. I found out because he thought I already knew. The first strangeness that hit me was not the irony of family histories, but simply that I know someone who can cross national boundaries with what sounds like less of a strain than I can find an apartment in my own city.

I took the camera because I am trying to accustom myself to carrying it more often and I was so glad I had!
And hooray for actual sleep, and for conversation with a loved one.
Thank you! Both of these things really were good.

Being dreamed of is a writer's dream. Do you remember what the museum in Cloud had in its collection? An exhibition of your photos would be really cool.

I like both!

Ceramics, mostly: maybe it was the wing I was in. Iron and bronze things out of the earth. A piece of painted wood, preserved as if it had been in a bog, with a ship motif. It was farther into the future than your current college, but not our modernity. They had loaned out a cup for the cider-making and a girl was toasting turn by turn with it. She said, "And let Annis come in," as if she meant it and were not afraid and the goddess did not turn up, of course, any more than the rest of the pantheon when invited, except insofar as they were already there.

If I didn't know you play almost no games, I would think you were playing Caves of Qud, because that is exactly the sort of meal a character from Caves of Qud would prepare.

It's a line from Marina Allen's "Red Cloud," which I was listening to! What is the game like?

It has! We have some unusually purple ones around the block I haven't yet photographed.

Definitely the best place I've been while asleep lately.

It sounds like the permanent residency and the dual citizen marriage help a lot.
