Of course what this sleepless and stress-filled week really needed to cap it off was the bed-rattling advent of jackhammers directly in front of our house at the crack of eight-hour day, necessitating the immediate moving of the car off our street which had not been blocked off and filled with no parking signs when we went to bed. I hadn't managed to fall asleep by then and I didn't really manage it afterward except for a kind of thin doze filled with nightmares. I am off to take my mother to her next appointment. Putting the last of my six-year-old WWI-themed stamps on the rent check this month.

Two doors down have been having a new kitchen put in, and the guys doing it have been using their front lawn for their portable circular saw for the past three days. As I've been sleeping with the front window open I was not impressed when that kicked in at 8AM on Wednesday...

Oh, blargh, I'm sorry. Our tree-murdering neighbors are completely renovating their back yard, with a mixture of professional landscapers and their own efforts, so there is no time of morning or afternoon when somebody might reliably NOT be making some kind of sleep-destroying noise. None of ours has been as horrible as a jackhammer, though.
