Two-faced Janus, the edges of things, whether starting or stopping or changing over. Last night my niece learned to play dominoes and Go Fish; she banged a pot at midnight while I blew the conch and just as we wondered if we were waking up the neighborhood, someone set off fireworks. Today we fear for the cat. I can't believe it's a new year. Rabbit, rabbit.

Hugs. It's been a lot, still being a lot. But precious time w. the niece and doing fun things. I know w. the cat... you know what is coming but there will never be a time or place where their leaving will be okay.

My daughter is due early 2024, and it's another year I am surprised to still be here. Granddaughter I never imagined we would have and I was fine w. that. It's been a shock and surprise but exciting too, the anticipation grows as the end of pregnancy approaches. Feeling more than a bit upside down.
