I hope you have gotten in a few naps together. We are on land again (for New Jersey values of land) and thinking of your household.
Every time I lie down, he scratches at the pillows to be let in. (And so far today he has scratched twice at the pillows for me to get up and feed him even just a little more.) Godspeed your escape from New Jersey.
My offer of hugs is a continuing one, if those are so desired. The anniversary of my own maternal grandfather's loss is not far away at all.
My offer of cuddles to the fabulous shoulderkitty is also ongoing. Did I read correctly at some point that he's an eight-toed polydactyl sprite of a gentlebeing? Those are some impressive paws, Autolycus.

They are very much appreciated. *hugs* for your own remembrance.

He has eight toes on each front paw, five on the back. He effectively has thumbs. He grew adept in using them to pick up bottlecaps, put them in his mouth, and carry them around the house until he could play with them. (He also understands the theory of unscrewing them from the tops of bottles, but has never managed to get the leverage to do it. We used to watch him as a young cat put his paws up on either side of a bottle of seltzer and try.)
